MEXICO – New regulation for family unit immigration processes.
Release Date

Media

Summary
A new regulation regarding family unit immigration processes has been implemented as of March 14, 2025. The changes include requirements for individuals with a Mexican child, where the minor’s passport must be submitted, and pediatric certificates are no longer accepted. For those with a Mexican spouse, both spouses must attend a personal interview at the National Immigration Institute. For renewals based on family ties, the marriage certificate must be submitted with proper apostille or legalization, and translated into Spanish by an accredited expert, even if it was previously submitted. Both spouses must also attend an interview. For minors, a birth certificate with similar requirements must be submitted for renewal, even if it was initially presented. These documents will be validated by the relevant authorities, meaning the procedures will not be resolved on the same day. For any specific inquiries, individuals are advised to contact their Newland Chase representative or submit an inquiry.
