Summary
Japan will increase visa fees for foreign nationals by five times starting July 1, following a Cabinet-approved revision. The fee for a single-entry visa will rise from 3,000 yen to 15,000 yen, while the fee for a multiple-entry visa will increase from 6,000 yen to 30,000 yen.

According to Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu, the previous fee levels had remained unchanged since 1978. The revision was made to reflect inflation and changes in exchange rates over the past several decades. Despite the substantial increase, the government believes the higher fees will not have an immediate negative impact on inbound tourism.
