Immigration Bureau denies allegation on foreigners’ biometrics data
Release Date

Summary
The Royal Thai Police’s Immigration Bureau denied allegations that it failed to collect biometric data from approximately 17 million foreign arrivals in 2024. The claim was made by opposition MP Rangsiman Rome via Facebook.
Bureau spokesman Pol Colonel Katatorn Kamthiang stated that all arrivals' data is recorded in multiple IT systems, which can cross-check with domestic and international security databases. Information such as entry date, mode of transport, visa type, and departure details is also logged.
Foreigners' stay is monitored through the PIBICS system, with residential data recorded within 24 hours. Long-term residents have their stay reasons, visa extensions, addresses, employment details, and tax records tracked, with updates every 90 days.
Those who violate laws are blacklisted, preventing them from re-entering with fake passports. While some IT systems face processing challenges, data collection remains unaffected. The bureau is also developing the high-efficiency Thailand Immigration System.
