Japan to add driving to specified foreign worker skills

To address driver shortages, Japan's transport ministry is collaborating with other government agencies to include bus driving as a specified skill in the country's foreign worker program. Additionally, the ministry is considering adding taxi and truck driving to the list of specified skills for which foreign workers can be granted long-term residency. The government plans to revise the related regulations by the end of fiscal 2023, in March 2024, to implement these changes.
