Summary
A syndicate led by a Pakistani national, specializing in forging immigration documents and producing fake immigration stamps, was busted in a raid by the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department (JIM). The raid, conducted after three weeks of surveillance, led to the arrest of three suspects: a 36-year-old man, his 27-year-old female partner, and a 16-year-old girl believed to be related to the woman. The syndicate had been operating for about a year, forging various documents, including temporary work visit passes, immigration security stamps, entry/exit stamps, and flight tickets. They targeted foreign nationals overstaying or residing illegally in Malaysia, selling fake security stamps for up to RM350 each, with a profit margin of around RM150 per stamp. During the raid, authorities seized 18 suspected forged passports, six immigration stamps, and counterfeit flight tickets.
Additionally, throughout 2024, JIM conducted 1,520 operations, checking 8,656 individuals and detaining 3,007 undocumented immigrants. 171 employers who sheltered or hired illegal foreign workers were also arrested. Investigations are ongoing under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
