• P0048:1 copy of the foreign press registration card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson(Prepared by Applicant)
  • If a foreign journalist registration card has been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.
• P0044:One document certifying that the foreign media organization that employs the applicant employs employees who have been issued a foreign journalist registration card by a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.(Prepared by Organization)
  • If a foreign journalist registration card has been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.
  • In the case of permission to extend the period of stay for the first time after changing jobs, this document will be required.
• P0049:A certificate of employment issued by a foreign media organization (limited to one that includes the name, address, and telephone number of the organization to which it belongs), etc. If the applicant continues to be dispatched by or employed by a foreign media organization, or 1 document certifying that you are working under a contract with an institution(Prepared by Organization)

• P0019:One copy each of resident tax taxation (or tax exemption) certificate and tax payment certificate (one year's total income and tax payment status)(*As long as the certificate shows both your annual gross income and tax payment status (whether or not you paid taxes), either one is acceptable.)(Prepared by Applicant)

  • If a foreign journalist registration card has not been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.
• P0045:One document created by the organization certifying the content of activities, period of dispatch, status, and remuneration(Prepared by Organization)
  • Please submit it as proof that you are eligible for the status of residence. Please submit either this document or P0004,P0046.
  • If a foreign journalist registration card has not been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.
  • In the case of permission to extend the period of stay for the first time after changing jobs, this document will be required.
  • In the case of persons dispatched by foreign media organizations, this document will be required.
• P0004:One document specifying the working conditions issued to the worker based on Article 15, Paragraph 1 of the Labor Standards Act and Article 5 of the Enforcement Regulations of the same Act.(Prepared by Applicant)
  • Please submit it as proof that you are eligible for the status of residence. Please submit either this document or P0045,P0046.
  • If a foreign journalist registration card has not been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.
  • In the case of permission to extend the period of stay for the first time after changing jobs, this document will be required.
  • For those employed in Japan by foreign media organizations, this document will be required.
• P0046:Contract related to the contract. However, if the content of the activity, period, position, and remuneration are not stated in the contract, one document prepared by the foreign media organization stating those matters.(Prepared by Applicant)

  • In the case of a person (freelancer, etc.) working under a contract other than employment with a foreign news organization, etc., this document will be required.
• P0047:1 document clarifying the outline of the foreign news organization (name of representative, history, organization, facilities, number of employees, reporting performance, etc.)(Prepared by Organization)
  • If a foreign journalist registration card has not been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, this document will be required.

• Were you engaged in activities consistent with your current status of residence?
• Have you never been arrested or received any criminal penalties for violating the laws of our country? Or have you never done such an act?
• Do you have National Health Insurance or Social Insurance? (Note) Failure to present your health insurance card will not disqualify you from changing your status of residence or extending your period of stay.
• Is the applicant not a burden on the public in his or her daily life, and is the applicant expected to have a stable life in the future based on his or her assets or skills? (household unit)
• Have you ever received a recommendation from a labor standards inspection agency for violating labor-related laws and regulations?
• Are you fulfilling your tax obligations such as income tax and resident tax?
• Are you fulfilling the notification obligations stipulated by the Immigration Control Act? (Notification regarding information on residence card, notification regarding affiliated organization, etc.)
