Highly Skilled Professional(ii)

In order to further promote the acceptance of foreign nationals with advanced specialized skills who are expected to contribute to academic research and the development of the economy in Japan, this status of residence has been established for those who have stayed in Japan for a certain period of time with the status of residence of "Highly Skilled Professional No. 1", with an indefinite period of stay and significantly relaxed activity restrictions. The status of residence of "Highly Skilled Professional No. 2" is granted to those foreign nationals who have reached a certain total point value in the points system for highly skilled professionals, in which points are assigned to each item such as academic background, work history, and annual income.
