Summary
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that new immigration pilots for home care workers will open on March 31, 2025, replacing previous permanent residence pathways for caregivers, which have expired.

To be eligible for these new pathways, foreign nationals must:

Have language proficiency equivalent to CLB level 4.
Hold an equivalent of a Canadian high school diploma.
Have recent, relevant work experience.
Receive a full-time job offer for a home care position.
Further details and eligibility requirements are yet to be announced by IRCC.

These pilots come after the closure of the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker Pilots in June 2024. The new programs will replace the previous caregiver immigration pathways, which included various programs now closed.

IRCC's 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan allocates 10,920 spots for new immigrants under "Federal Economic Pilots," which includes the new Home Care Worker Pilots, alongside other programs like the Agri-Food Pilot and Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot.
