Academic or artistic activities that do not involve income, or activities that involve conducting specialized research on the culture or arts unique to Japan, or acquiring skills under the guidance of experts (study abroad in Table 4 of Appended Table 1 of the Immigration Control Act) (excluding activities listed in the training section)
An example of this would be researchers of Japanese culture.
