Australia: Updates on CSOL and NIV

Australia has introduced the National Innovation Visa (NIV) (Subclass 858), replacing business migration schemes and the Global Talent visa. Key changes include updated English language requirements, visa validity, increased fees, and eligibility for Subclass 186 permanent residency.

CSOL (Core Skills Occupation List): The new CSOL consolidates 456 occupations, with additions in healthcare, education, construction, and cybersecurity. Occupations like Restaurant Manager and Graphic Designers were removed.
Skills in Demand Visa (SID Visa): The new SID Visa (Subclass 482) replaces the Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa and has three streams: Specialist Skills, Core Skills, and Labour Agreement. It offers clear pathways to permanent residency.
Subclass 186 (Permanent Residency): Time spent with any sponsoring employer now counts towards permanent residency under the Temporary Residence Transition stream.
