WATCH: Trump touts his immigration crackdown

During his March 4 address to a joint session of Congress, President Donald Trump emphasized the importance of securing America’s borders, stating that it is crucial to protect American children. He also highlighted the first law signed in his second term, the Laken Riley Act, which mandates the federal detention of unauthorized immigrants accused of theft and violent crimes. According to a recent PBS News/NPR/Marist poll, nearly half of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance, but his approval rating of 45% is higher than any point during his first term. While 54% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, 45% think it is on the right track, marking a 10-point increase since December 2024.
