Summary
Rob Worsoff, a producer known for reality shows like The Millionaire Matchmaker and Duck Dynasty, has proposed a new reality show to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) where immigrants compete for U.S. citizenship. The show, tentatively titled The American, would feature contestants completing themed challenges across the U.S., such as pizza-making in New York or rocket-launching in Florida, with local communities voting for who should win citizenship.

Worsoff, himself a Canadian immigrant, says the show is meant to humanize immigration and celebrate America. DHS confirmed it receives hundreds of show pitches annually and is open to creative ideas, but clarified that this particular pitch has not been approved or rejected. DHS also denied any involvement or endorsement by Secretary Kristi Noem.

The proposal comes amid the Trump Administration’s aggressive immigration policies, including legal efforts to end birthright citizenship and expand deportations. Recently, the Supreme Court blocked the administration’s attempt to use a wartime law for rapid deportations. Meanwhile, DHS has reportedly requested 20,000 National Guard troops to support deportation operations.
