Summary
Brazil has introduced a temporary visa waiver program for citizens of China traveling to Brazil for short-term stays. The regulation was published on May 7, 2026, took effect on May 11, 2026, and will remain valid until December 31, 2026.

Under the new measure, Chinese citizens may enter Brazil without a visa for stays of up to 30 days for purposes such as tourism, business activities, conferences and events, cultural or sports activities, and family visits.

The policy was adopted on a reciprocal basis, as China has granted visa-free entry to Brazilian citizens since 2025.

According to the Brazilian government, the initiative is intended to strengthen bilateral relations, promote tourism, and encourage commercial and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

However, the visa waiver applies only to short-term stays. Visas are still required for work, residence, study, or stays longer than 30 days.
