On June 23, 2026, the UK government announced that the second and final ballot for the 2026 Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) will be open from July 14 to July 16. There are 1,000 places each for applicants from Taiwan and Hong Kong. Successful applicants can live, work, and study in the UK for up to two years.

Ballot winners will be notified by July 30 and must submit their visa application, pay the required fees, and complete biometric registration within 90 days. Unsuccessful applicants cannot appeal but may enter future ballots if they remain eligible.

The YMS is available to eligible young people from several countries. Applicants from Hong Kong and Taiwan must be selected through the ballot, while Japanese and South Korean nationals no longer need to enter the ballot and can apply online at any time. A separate India Young Professionals Scheme is available for eligible Indian nationals.
