Starting January 1, 2025, the UK will transition to a digital immigration system, making physical immigration documents expire. Foreign nationals will need to use their online UKVI accounts to access and prove their immigration status for travel, work, and housing. Airlines, ferries, and international train operators will be able to automatically verify passengers' immigration status. There will be a grace period until March 31, 2025, allowing continued use of physical documents.
