Remote Work from New Zealand
Starting from January 27, 2025, visitors on a tourist visa or NZeTA can work remotely for foreign employers or clients while in New Zealand. However, they are not allowed to work for New Zealand employers or perform work requiring physical presence in a New Zealand workplace.

Tax Implications for Digital Nomads
Digital nomads working remotely for foreign employers in New Zealand may be exempt from New Zealand tax if they stay for less than 92 days in a 12-month period. If they stay longer, they will be taxed on income earned from services provided in New Zealand.

Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) Opening Dates
The 2025 opening dates for capped Working Holiday Schemes have been confirmed. Applications will remain open until the quota is filled, after which the scheme will close until 2026.

Changes to Employer Requirements
As of January 27, 2025, accredited employers no longer need to complete online modules from Employment New Zealand for hiring migrant workers. Additionally, the domestic workforce threshold for triangular employers in the construction sector will be reduced from 35% to 15%.

NZeTA for Cargo Ship Crew and Passengers
From April 1, 2025, all cargo ship crew members and passengers must obtain an NZeTA to enter New Zealand. Crew members can apply through a batch system starting February 3, 2025.

These changes reflect updates to the working and visiting conditions for foreign nationals in New Zealand.
